Dear MacGregor families and community:

With five grading periods down and two left for the year, it is such an busy time for everyone and I thank you for taking the time to stay connected and helping your student finish out the school year on a positive note. One new way to stay connected is by joining the AUSD E-Tree. Please go to www.ausdk12.org to sign up. Congratulations to junior Delmy Alvarado for being a member of the Technovation 3rd place winning team for the “NapApp” and to our own MacGregor High basketball team who one our first game ever 48-43 against Island High School in Alameda. Thank you to parent Anna Chavez for driving and cheerleading!!

In this letter you will find your student’s report card. For each class, students are expected to earn 2.5 credits. If your student earned more or fewer credits, this is an indication of their assignment completion during this 6-week grading period. Please contact your student’s teacher with any questions regarding grades and credits. Our final grading period for this year is April 30-June 8, 2012
Please encourage your student to attend school on time daily. Our bell schedule can be found on our website. Tardies and other absences can affect the amount of credits your student earns. As a small school, average daily attendance is crucial to the financial stability of our program. If your student is going to be absent, please call the school office at 510-559-6570 before 9:00 am on the day of their absence.

"One Size Does Not Fit All" Parent Education presentation Tuesday May 8, 2012
One Size Does Not Fit All, a 40-minute video, followed by a discussion,
will be aired Tuesday, May 8, 7-8:30 p.m. at the Albany Community Center,
1249 Marin Ave. This event is for parents and caregivers of all students,
K-12.

The video shows the keynote speech on raising successful and happy
children from the Challenge Success Conference at Stanford University in
2011. The speaker, Dr. Kenneth Ginsburg, is a pediatrician specializing
in adolescent medicine at the Childrens Hospital of Philadelphia.

After the screening, School Board member Patricia Low will facilitate a
community conversation. This will be an opportunity to make your voice
heard.

This is the final event in a four-part series, Student Success & Student
Stress, sponsored by the AUSD Wellness Committee and the PTAs.

MacGregor junior Delmy Alvarado helps team to victory in regional phone app pitch event!
MacGregor junior Delmy Alvarado helped her team tie for 3rd place out of 11 teams in the regional phone application Pitch event held last week for schools in Alameda County. For the past 10 weeks, 5 teams of Albany girls have been learning how to develop Android mobile applications. They've learned everything from coding, to marketing, to how to write a business plan for their product.
Out of 11 teams at last week's regional Pitch Event, Albany came in 1st, 2nd, and tied for 3rd place!!!
