This is the main fundraiser for these two wonderful organizations who do so much for the Albany community. AEF provides grants for AUSD new teachers to assist them in setting up their classrooms, field trip grants, and mini grants as well as the Sally Outis block grants for larger projects. Please see our web site, www.albanyeducation.org for more information about AEF.
In the past year, ACF has been very active in supporting a number of programs including the Mercy Brown Bag lunch program at the Senior Center, the Albany Film Festival, Dinner with Albany, the Albany Y’s Youth and Government Program, AHS grad night and the Albany Triathlon and the High School’s Spring Concert in Memorial Park. We have provided food at all of the City park clean up days and recently joined with the Friends of 5 Creeks to replace the signage at the Albany Waterfront. ACF partners with the Diverse Housing Working group and AUSD providing funding for the shower program at the Albany Aquatic Center for those experiencing homelessness or other housing challenges. We also worked with other community organizations sponsoring events educating participants on more sustainable living. Please see our web site for more information about ACF, www.albanycommunityfoundation.org

This year, for the first time, AUSD is participating in a national survey focused on technology in education in order to better understand our school community's usage of, and opinions about, educational technology.
We are trying to have as many people take the survey as possible in order to gather a broad picture of our community. This includes administrators, teachers, students, parents, and community members. Please be a part of this conversation and take the survey.

The results of the Presidential election have invoked strong emotions in our students that may continue for some time. This is a teachable moment as students of all ages are asking questions that need answering. We encourage parents to seek out helpful resource to answer some of those difficult questions and ease some of their children’s concerns.
Although this election has been challenging for many of us, we can count on the Albany community to be thoughtful, caring and compassionate. Together we will model this behavior for our students. AUSD will continue to offer our support to staff, parents, students, and the Albany community as we move on from this election together.
