Principal's Message

August 15, 2013

Dear MacGregor families and community:

I hope this finds all well and ready to begin the next school year with positive energy and a determined to succeed spirit. I would like to introduce myself.  I am the Director of Student Services for the District, and will also be serving as the administrator for MacGregor High School for this school year. I have the pleasure of welcoming back staff members Avram Wild (English/Language Arts), Eve Samonsky (Culinary) and Diane Peterson (Counselor). We are currently advertising for a Math/Science teacher, a History/Social Science teacher as well as a secretary who be shared with Albany Middle School.

Diane Peterson and I met on Monday, August 19th to finalize the MacGregor bell schedule (which will mirror the bell schedule at Albany High School), and to develop your student’s class schedule. I encourage all of you to call either Diane Peterson or me to meet and discuss the individual needs and goals for your student.

Student schedules will be available on Wednesday, August 21st. MacGregor students may take their pictures and receive a free ID card at the Albany High gym on Monday, August 26th from 10-11am only.  Students will have to schedule a time for make ups to receive an ID card at a later date. To receive a schedule, students must return the emergency contact form (available on website) which needs to be updated and signed by a parent/guardian each school year. All students must also have an updated vaccination record and have registered/reverified with the District office for the 2013-14 school year.

All students must show proof of having received the TDAP booster. Please call the school or see your student’s doctor if you have any further questions.

Please encourage your student to attend school on time daily. Our bell schedule will be found on our website.  Tardies and other absences can affect the amount of credits your student earns. As a small school, average daily attendance is crucial to the financial stability of our program. If your student is going to be absent, please call the school office at 510-559-6570 before 9:00 am on the day of their absence.

If your student is interested in taking a concurrent course at a community college this fall, please contact Diane Peterson soon to complete the enrollment forms required to register.

Did you know that MacGregor has parent/student online access to updated grades and attendance records through Aeries District Parent portal? Verification codes for each student are available. Please contact our office if you did not receive your student’s permanent ID and verification code last year and visit www.ausdk12.org to create and access your account. Please visit our website at mac.ausdk12.org frequently for updated calendars, announcements and other information that will keep you connected to the school. You will also find all of the contact information for staff members and links to other district resources.

Best regards,
